Department OverviewUnited Family Hospitals & Clinics is a pioneering, international standard healthcare organization in China, our sole mission is to provide comprehensive, integrated healthcare services in a uniquely warm and caring patient and family service-oriented environment.Job DescriptionPerforms technically complex tests ( ID&ATB of Microbiology included;  ID&ATB of Microbiology excluded) that require considerable amounts of independent judgment and interpretation.Responsibilities1. Monitor specimen collection, identification, transport, storage, and processing to ensure quality of specimen before testing.2. Prepares reagents, standards and controls according to prescribed procedures.3. Performs tests and sample analysis in the areas of clinical chemistry, hematology & Blood Bank, microbiology ( ID&ATB included;  ID&ATB excluded), immunology and/or Body fluid analysis.4. Verifies test results prior to release.5. Performs quality control to ensure proper functioning of instruments, reagents, and procedures. Recognizes instrument malfunction and out-of-control test results, takes corrective action and reports to the supervisor.6. Maintains test equipment and instruments, following established procedures.7. Answers questions of physicians and nurses concerning laboratory tests, accepts complaints, and initiates corrective actions.8. Trains new employees the laboratory techniques.9. Gives lectures on lab test techniques or related diseases in laboratory.10. Participates in education class and continuing education programs.  Attends workshops, seminars, and lectures to keep current on new instrumentation, techniques and procedures as assigned by the chair.11. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.Requirements1. Related bachelor's degree, or others with certification as a laboratory technologist.2. Intermediate English level in listening, speaking, reading, and writing is preferred.3. Perform full range of chemistry, microbiology (? ID&ATB included; ? ID&ATB excluded), immunology, hematology & Blood Bank and body fluid laboratory procedures.4. Participates in the evaluation of new techniques and procedures in the laboratory.5. Evaluates and solves problems related to collection and processing of biological specimens for analysis.6. Differentiates and resolves technical, instrument, physiologic causes of problems or unexpected test results.7. An understanding of the underlying scientific principles of laboratory testing (( ID&ATB   included;  ID&ATB excluded) as well as the technical, procedural, and problem-solving aspects.8. A general comprehension of the many factors that affect health and disease, and recognizes the importance of proper test selection, the numerous causes of discrepant test results (patient and laboratory), deviation of test results, and ethics including result confidentiality9. Correlates abnormal data with pathologic states, determines validity of test results, and need for additional tests.10. Understands and enforces safety regulations.
